Your trust matters to us. Here's how we handle your information.
This policy explains what information Her Digital Playbook actually collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We've written it to reflect exactly what this site does — nothing invented, nothing exaggerated.
When you join the Girl Gang newsletter, we collect the name and email address you provide. That's it — we don't ask for anything else to subscribe, and we don't collect payment information anywhere on this site, since everything here is free.
Your name and email are used to send your welcome email and future Big Sis Letters — money tips, career advice, freelancing opportunities, and updates from Her Digital Playbook. We personalize the welcome email with your name so it actually feels like it's from us, not a robot. We never sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone, for any reason.
Your subscriber information is stored securely with Supabase, our database provider, and is only ever accessed through a secure server-side connection — never directly from your browser. Emails are delivered through Resend, our email service provider. Both are established providers used specifically to run the newsletter safely; neither has access to your information for any purpose beyond delivering what you signed up for.
To make the site itself work — remembering your quiz answers, XP, badges, saved articles, and whether you've already seen the splash screen or subscription popup — we use your browser's local storage. This information stays on your device and is never sent to our servers or seen by us. Clearing your browser data will reset these preferences.
If you choose to allow notifications, your browser may show you occasional reminders about joining the Girl Gang or a confirmation after you subscribe. This uses your browser's own built-in notification permission — we only send a notification if you've explicitly granted permission, and you can revoke that permission at any time through your browser's settings.
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site, such as which pages are visited and roughly where visitors are located. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
We also run our own simple, anonymous analytics. It records the page visited, the page title, the referring website, your approximate country (from the request, never your IP address, which we do not store), your device type and browser, and how long the page was open. It uses a random identifier saved in your browser's local storage, not a cookie, and is not linked to your name, email address or anything you type into our forms. We use it only to understand how the site is used. You can clear this identifier at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Google Fonts are loaded from Google's servers to display our typography, which may involve a standard request to Google as part of loading the page — this is a technical requirement for font delivery, not tracking on our part.
We may partner with third-party advertising networks, such as Google AdSense, to serve ads when you visit our website.
Google's Use of Cookies: Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
User Opt-Out: Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
You can unsubscribe from the Girl Gang newsletter at any time using the link in every email we send — this immediately stops future emails and any related notification reminders. You can also disable browser notifications at any time through your browser settings, and clear your local browser storage to reset your on-site preferences. If you'd like your subscriber information removed from our records entirely, reach out through our Contact page and we'll take care of it.
Her Digital Playbook is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
If this policy changes, we'll update this page with a new effective date. We encourage checking back occasionally, especially if you're a long-time member of the Girl Gang.
